Installation of a log yard in Germany

From July to September 2022, we carried out the installation of a complete roundwood handling facility in Germany. The scope of supply included installation of the following components:

• Cross-feed conveyor system
• Tandem step feeder
• Star feeder unit
• Log diameter reduction unit
• Step feeder system
• Log runner system
• Measuring block conveyor
• Bark scraper system
• Waste disposal scraper system

In addition to the roundwood yard installation, we also assembled structural steel components for the feeding system as well as a debarking line including its steel support structure.

During the project, we faced particularly challenging weather conditions, with temperatures temporarily exceeding 38°C (100°F), making working conditions significantly more demanding. Some welding tasks had to be performed overhead under these extreme conditions. To ensure safety, efficiency, and quality, we invested in specialized welding equipment and helmets designed specifically for high-temperature working environments. This new equipment helped optimize working time and contributed to the successful completion of the project to the customer’s full satisfaction.

To minimize the organizational effort for our client, we also handled the coordination of site infrastructure, including accommodation containers, forklifts and crane logistics.
